A New Chapter for INIS Peebles
We're dedicating this month's blog to our new Peebles store!
What's one of the first things that comes to mind when you think of February?
It's probably Valentines Day. But not so much this year, February is special for us in a different way: it’ll be our first full month in our new Peebles store!
The store has only been open since mid-January, and it’s already buzzing with loyal local customers and plenty of new faces, all excited to see INIS Peebles and its transformation. We really have hit the jackpot with this new space — with its gorgeous big windows, all on one level, and a prime location right in the centre of the High Street!
A Real Family Affair
The project was a real family affair. Before becoming INIS, the space was home to the famous and much-loved Caldwell's Ice Cream (which you can still enjoy at their café in the neighbouring town of Innerleithen). What makes it feel extra special is the family connection. While the Peebles site has taken on a new life as INIS, Caldwell's is connected to Claire’s daughter-in-law’s family, giving a lovely sense of continuity rather than a complete fresh start.
Before & After
It’s been so lovely watching the space come together. With more light, a better flow, and plenty of thoughtful details, it already feels like a shop that invites you to slow down and browse. It was truly all hands on deck — Claire’s son Josh (JL Joinery) took on the joinery work, and sister Sam proved just as handy with a paintbrush! The transformation is subtle but striking — using our brand colours throughout the space really helps bring the shop to life.
"Such a lovely shop! I'm so glad you're now on the high street!" - J Milne
"We are so excited for your new venture and could not ask for a more worthwhile business to take on the premises!" - J Todd
See you in Peebles soon!
We’ve loved seeing so many of you pop into the new Peebles store to wish us well — it’s been great catching up with familiar faces and meeting plenty of new ones too.
Here’s to lots more happy moments, laughter, and browsing together in this lovely space!
Curious to see the transformation for yourself? Pop in for a visit, check out our latest collections, and don’t forget to follow us on Instagram and Facebook to keep up with all the news from INIS!

This topic is usually explained in a very confusing way on other blogs, but your article made everything clear. I appreciate the examples and the structure you used. Subscribed for more content! b 52
This post was full of useful takeaways. I especially liked the final section, which summed up everything perfectly. Thanks for providing such high-quality content. I win68
